"Father, how could you! I have no chance of getting her to change her mind if she feels antagonized!" Jaytax jumped up from the table and marched to the large window that overlooked the landscape below them. He looked at how beautiful everything was outside, from the blooming flowers and trees to the purplish hints around the mountain, and thought about how it would be such a beautiful place to raise a family with Hannah. She was the one he wanted and he had to make sure he didn't lose her. Especially now with her departure back to Earth in just a few days.

"I don't understand, Jaytax. Why wouldn't she want to be with you? What is the problem? You are giving her a unique opportunity! I understand from your brother that the probes show that Earth is not the greatest place to live. She can have so many opportunities here!" said Zinyon.

Jaytax turned around to face his father and glanced at his brother who had walked over toward the window as well. Zinyon stood up to face his sons. Jaytax said, "I still do not understand enough. There is something about Earth holding her back and I need to find out what it is."

Bexton motioned for all three of them to be nearer to one another. Zinyon complied and walked forward, pressing his lips together while furrowing his eyebrows. Then Bexton put his hand on Jaytax's shoulder. "Brother, if we can find the other hostages, if they are indeed still alive, there could be someone else for you, soon. And it would be a way we could negotiate with Earth to build a bridge between our worlds, a means to give Earthly women the opportunity to live here. Hope is not lost. You do not have to settle for Hannah. If the hostages are still alive, there are other humans presumably not too far away."

“I am not settling for Hannah! I am absolutely in love with her, and I want her! I've never felt this way before. I just can't explain it, but I need her. I want her. I have to find a way to be with her forever.” He paused from his shouting. “So please, please don't upset her. I'm doing everything I can so that I can stay with her. And if she works out to be in love with me as well, as Earthly women can freely choose whom they love — they do not make life partner decisions based on the instincts we have—then you will get your wish, Father. She will bear more children for our future."

Zinyon fell back down from his sons and then proceeded to sit at the table again. He rubbed his forehead with his eyes closed. With a heavy yet soft voice he said, "Sons, I know you've both endured tremendous loss. To hear that she has captured your heart and instinct, Jaytax, makes me that much more hopeful, because I want my sons to be happy. But I am also doing my best to rebuild our world anew.
